THE PHOENIX’S JOURNEY of LIFE

The Phoenix is a mythical bird with colorful plumage that is said to be either from Arabia or India. Legend said that there is only one Phoenix alive at a time. It has a 500-year life cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of incense and sacred materials that it then ignites. The bird is then consumed by the fire of its nest, but from its ashes a young Phoenix rises, reborn anew. Likewise, as Monroe Street Abbey was once ignited and turned to ash, VIS Interior Architecture wants to revive it for adaptive reuse, giving it another life, as part of its rebirth.
